A LITTLE ABOUT ALI OHTA:

As a child, I attended boarding school in Leysin, Switzerland where I first discovered fondue, pate and risotto along with a plethora of other European delights I never experienced before. Being that both of my parents are from Hawaii, I discovered that there truly was life outside of Spam. I returned to America with a whole new outlook regarding food. Living abroad sparked my interest and passion for cooking but I never thought of it as a career. I floated around the music industry for more than a decade before I revisited the idea of cooking for a living. I graduated from the Kitchen Academy in Hollywood (now Le Cordon Bleu) and never looked back. I’m so grateful I’ve had the benefit of working alongside and learning from some of the world’s most talented chefs, such as Gordon Ramsay. I have worked for Bon Appétit before as an Executive Chef at the Disney Studios and am thrilled to be your Chef/Manager here at the Blue Ladder Café!
